In anticipation of the upcoming Artemis mission to Earth’s moon, Future Engineers is challenging students to dream up an RPS mission to one of our solar system’s nearly 300 moons.

Our team dove deep into the amazing technology of Radioisotope Power Systems (RPS) in 2023. RPS is a nuclear-fueled system that powers spacecraft in the harshest conditions for years, allowing us to explore the most daring places in our solar system and beyond.

This year’s call-for-entry video highlights moons like Io which contains volcanoes that shoot lava over 300 feet high and Titan’s vast lakes and oceans. We wanted students to not only think out of the box but also out of this world by connecting the passion of possibility to existing technology.
