Over the last few decades, South Dakota Public Broadcasting has experienced a lot of change, both inside and outside of its organization. They approached Fresh Produce because it was time to update their identity to better reflect who they are as an organization. We started by hearing from over 600 South Dakotans who had something to say about what SDPB means to them. They didn’t disappoint.
We learned that listeners are curious about the world, they appreciate experimentation and fun, and they value inclusivity, sustainability, and diversity. The bottom line is, the average SDPB listener is an eager and articulate person who is excited about living. The final identity is a lot of things. It’s friendly, not folksy. It’s active, resilient, and courageous. It’s the teacher, the questioner, and the trickster.
Most importantly, it makes you wonder.
Its comprehensive and adaptable system allows its team to customize assets across all of its outlets. The final identity includes everything from recommendations on color, layout, animation, and sound design.
