Amongst the uncertainty that accompanies those artists who have recently left the insular world of academia is where my current body resides, a mingling of the tried and true methods gained from graduate education and exploration into avoided, prohibited or overlooked artistic territories.

The ceaseless inward content of memories, concerns, desires and other intangible features of the body influence my formal considerations, impacting the psychological tone of my sculptures. With renewed freedom, I reference forms of the natural world and ordinary objects at varying levels of abstraction and representation, ranging from the easily recognizable to the outright obscure. The familiar materials of polystyrene, white glue, and expanding foam are utilized for their inherent aesthetic and structural qualities to create objects that are best described as a synthesis of whimsy and quiet unease.

Hunch encompasses intuition and hesitation, experience and inexperience, doubt and hope.
