The Sioux Falls Design Center is not only Ipso Gallery’s 2012 beneficiary, but is an active participant in our annual fundraising show. Participating artists and sponsors met at the Design Center, where each sponsor chose a series of photographs collected by the Design Center that capture various elements of design. The photos chosen by each sponsor served as inspiration for their partner artist’s work. From there, the artists set to work on their canvases, with one month to bring their inspiration—and their sponsor’s—to life.
Beneficiary Spotlight: Inform and Function
The mission of the Sioux Falls Design Center is to inform and engage the public on the impact of design on our daily lives and our community. They hosts a series of exhibits at the DC Gallery, a lunch time lecture series called the Design Center PicNic, an informal night of presentations called PechaKucha Night, and workshops, as well as organizes design tours, hosts the annual Design & Conquer Design Awards and is a place where designers and the public can hang-out, interact, innovate and create.
