Issue 00: Connecting Across Time
Printed Publication | Writing | Naming | Photography
“Timelines” is a bi-annual newspaper from the Badlands National Park Conservancy, highlighting stories of vulnerability, resilience, and balance in the Badlands of South Dakota.
Issue 00 explores how the layers of the Badlands connect us to our past, its wildlife to our present, and its sky to our biggest questions. It features everyone from dark sky astronomers to park paleontologists, first-time visitors to the Lakota people who’ve inhabited the land for hundreds of years. Each brings a unique perspective on the cultural, geological, and biological significance of the Badlands, and what it means to steward the land well—keeping it wild and wonderful for generations to come.
Fresh Produce worked closely with the Conservancy to write and design the printed piece, which unfolds to reveal a custom poster inspired by the rare night sky viewing opportunities found in the Badlands.
“Timelines” debuted at the Badlands Astronomy Festival in July, and now serves as a free gift for all park visitors.
